Aged Cuban Cigars

Aged Cuban cigars have proved to be a lucrative investment over the years. Many of the connaisseur Cuban cigar smokers generally purchase two boxes of the same Cuban cigar....one to collect and one to smoke. Increases in the value of the Cuban cigars has often meant that the box for collecting aged Cuban cigars has increased to the extent that the second box for smoking ends up costing nothing.

"Is an aged cigar better than a recent production or mature Havana?"

Smoking aged Cuban cigars is an acquired taste. Aged cigar’s taste is completely different than the equivalent recent production of Cuban cigar. The reason for the taste difference is the effect of slow maturing of the Cuban cigar. If aged and stored properly, Cuban cigars will age and mature in a similar fashion than a fine wine. Please refer to the Legitimate Cuban Cigar’ “Storing you Cuban Cigars” section for more details. Over the first to three years of aging a Cuban cigar, the nicotine/ammonia content and harshness associated with aged Cuban cigar will disappear naturally, and their strength will mellow in strength progressively while retaining it's general flavour characteristics.

In order to obtain success in aging Cuban cigars, it is important to slow down the maturing process, and lower the temperatures and humidity levels.
An excellent book to help achieve success in the aging your Legitimate Cuban cigars is "An Illustrated History of Post revolution Havana Cigars". Legitimate Cuban Cigars found it to be a good reference which contains good descriptions and photographs of almost every Havana cigar commercially produced since the revolution.
